Tots classes are 30 minutes long and meet for 3, 12-week sessions. Parent participation is required for Tiny Tots only. Participants play games and sing songs while building gross motor skills and other age appropriate movement.
Combo classes are 40 minutes long and meet for the first 14 weeks of the year. Class time is split between Ballet/Tumbling (3 yr olds), Ballet/Tap (4-6 yr olds), and Jazz/Hip Hop (5-6 yr olds). No parent participation.
For 3 and 4 year olds at the Pre-Kindergarten level. An age appropriate blend of basic ballet, gymnastics, and fun rhythm and coordination exercises. Students must be 3 by September 30th to be eligible.
For students age 5 and up. Ballet technique and terminology are presented in a fun, age appropriate manor. *Pink ballet shoes is standard. Please have hair pulled back in a bun, hair off of face.
Includes Pre-Tap for 4 and 5 year olds. Tap classes build fine movement and rhythmic vocabulary.
Students must be 6 by September 30th. Dancing to high energy music, students learn isolations, extensions, and leaps. Later, students progress to multiple pirouettes, fouettes and other tricks. *Tan jazz shoes required.
Various styles are presented in our fastest growing dance form. Our hip-hop is family friendly--all movements and music are age-appropriate. Students must be 7 years old by September 30th. *Loose fitting clothing permitted. Black Hip Hop sneakers required.
An expressive form incorporating Ballet and other techniques to convey an emotion or story.
Modern dance examines movement in an organic form. Students learn choreographic skills and improvisation techniques.
By permission only. Those selected for Pointe are required to take at least 2 classes per week. *Black leotard, pink tights preferred. Please have hair pulled back in a bun, hair off of face.
Includes Beginning and Intermediate/Advanced level classes. Students learn tumbling skills such as limbers, walkovers, handsprings, aerials, etc.
PDA hosts Beginner/Intermediate classes for Adults in Tap, Ballet, Jazz & HipHop. Dress code: comfy clothes and appropriate dance shoes. Recital is not required.
A blend of Modern, Jazz and Lyrical that demonstrates strength and flexibility, uses internal connections, and displays dynamic movement. Prior dance experience and permission required.
B-Boy (also B-Girl):
1) One who expresses himself through break-beats using various combinations or sets of breakdance moves such as "top rock," "uprock," "6-step," freeze," "power," and "airtracks."
2) "Bronx boy," or "Break boy" originated in New York during the evolution of hip hop culture; "Break boy" references the fact that b-boys dance during the lyric-free musical break of songs.
Leotards, tights, and shoes are available for purchase or special order in the PDA office. Recommendations below is the dancewear needed to match recital costume. See instructor for more details.
For all classes, hair must pulled securely back out of face in a bun or braid. Parents, please double-knot young dancers' shoelaces and trim excess elastic from ballet shoes. Any clothing or shoes that could damage our dance floors or equipment is not permitted.
Tots and Combo Classes: Any solid color leotard, pink tights and pink leather ballet shoes. Dancers will need tap shoes also if doing the Ballet/Tap Combo class.
Pre-Dance, Ballet, Pointe: Any solid color leotard, pink tights, and pink ballet shoes. Skirts, ballet sweaters, and leg warmers ok. (Black leotard recommended for Ballet 1 and up).
Pre-Tap, Tap: Any solid color leotard, tan tights, and black tap shoes. (Black leotard recommended for Tap 1 and up) *See class description for shoe details.
Jazz 1 and up: Any solid color leotard, tan tights, and tan jazz shoes. (Black leotard recommended).
Hip-Hop: Any solid color leotard, tan tights, and black jazz sneakers. (Black leotard recommended) Loose street clothing is permitted (no metal zippers or grommets as these damage the floor).
Gymnastics: Any solid color leotard, tan footless tights, socks or bare feet. Boys wear t-shirt and shorts.
Contemporary: Any solid color leotard, and tan tights. For class, ballet shoe, lyrical sandal, foot paw, or bare feet are acceptable. Recital shoe to be determined by instructor.
Adult Classes: No leotard or tights necessary! Comfortable clothing and supportive dance shoes suggested.
